What PC game had you in a chokehold in the early 2000s?

As a kid, I distinctly remember setting timers and arguing with my siblings about who got to play on Mom's computer next -- and for how long. I spent countless hours playing so many games, and countless more looking over my sister's shoulder to watch her complete the levels I struggled with (and vice versa, as PC games were truly my forte). I got a text from that same sister yesterday, asking me if I could remember the horse-themed game we played as little girls that felt like magic through the screen. Without a single hesitation, I answered: Bellasara. That digital world had us scouring the checkout section of every grocery store we went to trying to acquire newer, rarer horses to keep in our digital stables. After some reminiscing, I felt inclined to see if I could log into my old account just for fun. To my dismay, the site was gone -- at least in any kind of capacity resembling the magic I witnessed in 2009. I dove down the rabbit hole to check the statuses on my other fixations fr

Are ads on the PS5 inevitable?

It seems no matter where you go these days, ads are becoming more and more obtrusive. Streaming services push ad-supported tiers on consumers wary of constant price hikes, smart TVs often feature them on home screens, and even video game consoles like the Xbox XIS feature ads. However, perhaps in an effort to position itself as the most premium gaming console, Sony has kept its PlayStation 5 ad-free. Well that is until yesterday. Sony says that an update was sent out in error which brought unavoidable ads to the console's game screen. However, writer Eli Becht isn't so sure this was an accident as much as a preview of things to come. Read more about his thoughts at the link, and when you're done let us know, do you think ads on the PS5 are inevitable?

Forget a dedicated Apple smart display: is it time for the iPad to get the Pixel Tablet Hub Mode treatment?

Word on the street is that Apple is working on its own dedicated smart display hardware, in an effort to compete with Amazon's Echo line and Google's Next Hub line, among other players in the market. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple is targeting a 2025 launch for a lower-end model, with the possibility of a much more expensive robotic arm and iPad-like display variant down the road. Smart display products, alongside other consumer smart home gadgets, make up a growing market segment that Apple surely wants to tap into sooner rather than later. The thing that sticks out to me is this: Apple already sells a perfectly viable smart display, and it's called the iPad. The tech giant has historically struggled to differentiate and justify its iPad lineup in the era of large-screen iPhones and Apple Silicon-based Macs. Oftentimes, I find my iPad to simply sit neglected and out-of-battery, as it's been difficult to integrate into my daily workflow. Google, for its part, has
