Are inconsistent frame rates enough to sully video game experiences for you?

Nintendo recently released the latest installment in its iconic The Legend of Zelda series, in the form of the top-down Echoes of Wisdom for the Nintendo Switch. Pocket-lint's own Patrick O'Rourke describes the title as "a great blend of old school and modern Zelda, with a stunning art style," while also flagging one major drawback: frame rate issues that threaten to ruin the experience. Echoes of Wisdom is far from the only Nintendo Switch game plagued by inconsistent frame rates -- the hardware is based off of a 2015-era mobile processor, after all -- but it sticks out like a sore thumb now more than ever before. Sony Japan just found an easy way to beat PS5 Pro scalpers

The PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe pre-order last week was nothing short of a disaster in North America, with hundreds of scalpers scooping up the limited edition console and flipping it for thousands of dollars on eBay. And while its easy to feel defeated by this type of situation (which happens all too often) Sony Japan has found an interesting way to try and ensure this doesn't happen when the limited edition goes live in the region later this month: Anyone who wants to preorder the PS5 Pro 30th anniversary edition must have a PSN account registered in Japan, and have at least 30 hours of PS4 or PS5 runtime on the account between February 2014 and September 19, 2024. The system sounds like a less-flawed version of the Ticketmaster "Verified Fan" system, and could help ensure that these limited edition consoles all go directly into the hands of PlayStation fans, instead of directly to resale sites. Do you think something like this could be implemented in the US for t

What PC game had you in a chokehold in the early 2000s?

As a kid, I distinctly remember setting timers and arguing with my siblings about who got to play on Mom's computer next -- and for how long. I spent countless hours playing so many games, and countless more looking over my sister's shoulder to watch her complete the levels I struggled with (and vice versa, as PC games were truly my forte). I got a text from that same sister yesterday, asking me if I could remember the horse-themed game we played as little girls that felt like magic through the screen. Without a single hesitation, I answered: Bellasara. That digital world had us scouring the checkout section of every grocery store we went to trying to acquire newer, rarer horses to keep in our digital stables. After some reminiscing, I felt inclined to see if I could log into my old account just for fun. To my dismay, the site was gone -- at least in any kind of capacity resembling the magic I witnessed in 2009. I dove down the rabbit hole to check the statuses on my other fixations fr
