It seems no matter where you go these days, ads are becoming more and more obtrusive. Streaming services push ad-supported tiers on consumers wary of constant price hikes, smart TVs often feature them on home screens, and even video game consoles like the Xbox XIS feature ads. However, perhaps in an effort to position itself as the most premium gaming console, Sony has kept its PlayStation 5 ad-free. Well that is until yesterday. Sony says that an update was sent out in error which brought unavoidable ads to the console's game screen. Forget a dedicated Apple smart display: is it time for the iPad to get the Pixel Tablet Hub Mode treatment?
Word on the street is that Apple is working on its own dedicated smart display hardware, in an effort to compete with Amazon's Echo line and Google's Next Hub line, among other players in the market. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple is targeting a 2025 launch for a lower-end model, with the possibility of a much more expensive robotic arm and iPad-like display variant down the road. As someone who has never actually played an Assassin's Creed game, it might be surprising to hear that I know way too much about the stories themselves. It all started when a song from the score of Assassin's Creed III came on my studying playlist in college, and the algorithms that be sent me an ad for the game later on. I then entered a rabbit hole of watching compilations of gameplay and the cinematic trailers for each respective iteration. I remember seeing the trailer for Assassin's Creed Unity with Lorde's cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World for the first time -- the bird soaring over a pivotal point of the French Revolution and the Brotherhood falling seamlessly into the fray. I still wish we could get another Assassin's Creed movie, but this time based on Unity, Valhalla, or even Black Flag. If you could get a perfect adaptation of one Assassin's Creed game of your choice, what would it be?
